Originally called the "Donaldson Glass Block Building," this was the first location of the Donaldson brothers' department store. It was built in 1888, and it was destroyed in the Thanksgiving Day fire of 1982, which also destroyed the Norwest Bank Building next door. Donaldson's had already moved across the street to the new City Center Building across the street in 1982, and demiolition had begun on the building when it burned down in the fire.
