Historical background: "This house was bulit in 1905 for an estimated cost of $5,000. The original owner and occupant of the house was Charles W. Boyer, a traveling salesman for Griggs, Cooper, and Company. Before moving to this house, he lived at 1541 W. Minnehaha Avenue."

Statement of significance: "An attractive and fairly sophisticated Colonial Revival style house that is in need of repairs and is one of several large early 20th century houses in the neighborhood."
