The site of Labor Day picnics sponsored by the Trades and Labor Assembly. In the early part of this century it was the site of the Harriet Island public baths, created mostly through the untiring efforts of St. Paul Commissioner of Health Dr. Justus Ohage, who sought to improve the health of poor and working people before indoor plumbing was widely available.
