John Eisenmenger, a business man, built this impressive home at a cost of $47,000 near Indian Mounds Park about 1890. The large brick structure featured sandstone trim around the windows. A fire destroyed the home in the early morning hours of August 14,1892. Due to the dense fog and lack of specific address given by those who reported the fire, it took the fire department a long time to locate the structure. Newspaper accounts speculated that the cause of the fire was arson, and insurance investigations followed. In 1902 the property was added to the park area, and the bricks were hauled away for use in buildings at Como Park.
