INTRODUCTION
Little is currently known about the history of this beautifully preserved, early Victorian home. It is believed that the house may have been built as early as the 1860s and was originally located near Minneapolis's downtown core, which at the time would have been largely residential. Both the home and its large barn are believed to have been moved to their current location at 33rd Street and Park Avenue in South Minneapolis by oxcart in 1905, the same year that Minneapolis City Directories first began publishing listings about this parcel of land.
OWNER
Minneapolis City Directories indicate a Mr. and Mrs. Luellel Seward as owning and residing at 3301 Park Avenue from 1905 until 1916. Luellel Seward was an attorney.
ARCHITECTURAL STYLE
3301 appears to be one of the oldest structures along Park Avenue; its early Victorian style looking quite different than the surrounding Queen Anne and Classical Revival structures built mostly between 1890 and 1910. Instead, with its predominantly square shape, orderly symmetry, large decorative eave brackets, and open porch with both spindlework and jigsaw cut trim, 3301 Park at once appears to contain elements of the much earlier Folk Victorian style.
