National Register of Historic Places Information

St. Paul architect Clarence Johnston designed this home for Oliver T. Crosby and his wife, Elizabeth. Crosby was the co-founder and president of the American Hoist and Derrick Company, a firm that he built into a major employer in the city of St.Paul. The Crosby family was active in St. Paul society and frequently entertained at their home. Elizabeth Crosby was a leader in women's organizations, especially at St.Clement's Episcopal Church. There Mrs. Crosby was president of the Women's Guild and the gardens at 804 Lincoln were often the site of fund raising and social events for ladies of the parish.

Crosby House Gardens

The family moved from this home in 1916 to a much more extensive estate known as "Stonebridge" [1]located at 302 Mississippi River Boulevard South. Clarence Johnston designed this home as well. Although Stonebridge was torn down in the early 1950s, 804 Lincoln remains a private home.
